Summer 2021

It’s summertime and we couldn’t be more excited for the sun to show itself! After an anticlimactic summer in 2020 with us all being stuck indoors, it’s now more important than ever that we take the time to appreciate good weather, beautiful things and being able to spend time together.

The walled garden that the talented Jamie and Lucy have been working on so hard is looking gorgeous! It is located behind Malthouse Antiques just down the road, so do please go and enjoy some time reflecting on the little things that have kept all our spirits high. Our friends at the Malthouse are currently working hard to create a café so you will soon be able to enjoy some food and a refreshing drink while you sit in the garden - in between visiting some of the “lovely and local” shops that Narberth is renowned for.

For us Gallery Girls, the summer has brought with it fresh starts and new arrivals. As we are so busy, we have just recruited three lovely ladies to join our friendly team. All three are wonderfully creative; Hayley and Louise are artists and Holly is studying creative writing at university and loves poetry. As a “hello” present to you all, Holly has shared with us one of her favourite poems which we are sure you will enjoy at the end of this newsletter.

Another new arrival to the family is Rosa, the gallery dog, who was recently introduced to via our Instagram and Facebook pages. Some of you may have been lucky enough to meet Rosa in person on one of her previous visits to the gallery, but - just in case you missed her - we’ll fill you in: she’s curious, sweet and oh so fluffy! If that won't cheer up your post-lockdown self, then what will?

You can follow Rosa’s updates as we post them on both Instagram and Facebook or browse her journey so far by searching #Rosasgoldenadventures. Do consider following us on those platforms if you are not already, to keep up with all the latest gallery news as well as gorgeous views of inspiring new shop items and the developing garden.

In other news, our ‘Pembrokeshire Living’ shop located in the clock tower has been fantastically busy since its re-opening. We are enjoying sourcing locally made, high-quality products that celebrate the beauty of our amazing county and the wonderful creativity and skill of the people who live here.

Whether you plan on visiting Pembrokeshire for a well-earned holiday this summer or you are a local in the mood for some browsing, we cannot wait to welcome you and we wish you an enriching, fulfilling time.

Love, the Gallery Girls.

‘The Orange’

Wendy Cope

At lunchtime I bought a huge orange—

The size of it made us all laugh.

I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave—

They got quarters and I had a half.

And that orange, it made me so happy,

As ordinary things often do

Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park.

This is peace and contentment. It's new.
The rest of the day was quite easy.

I did all the jobs on my list

And enjoyed them and had some time over.

I love you. I'm glad I exist.
